Repress 1980s France Import on Alternative Tentacles/Statik Records Virus 5 label
Combined Shipping Discount
ATTENTION: USPS MEDIA MAIL RATES INCREASED July
14, 2024 to $5.38 for the first 2lbs. All my new listings as of July 14, 2024 will reflect a new
Media Mail Flat Rate of $5.50 for the first CD, and $6.00 for the first
LP, and an additional .50 for each LP or CD added to the purchase when
combining shipping. Keep in mind that LP mailer boxes cost me .80 per
box.
Always a one business day turnaround. Keep in mind that shipping fees include
boxes, packaging materials and handling time. LP mailers now cost about .80 each when bought in bulk. The Priority Mail rates are actual
USPS fees based on weight and
your address so combined shipping is calculated by eBay., plus .50
handling fee per additional item when using Priority Mail. If there is
an adjustment in your favor to shipping charges after your payment I
will refund you the savings. Place items in your cart and request a
total before checking out. If you prefer a
different shipping method, please contact me before completing your
transaction and request the total and I will make the adjustment. But
be advised when selecting Media Mail, any damage or loss due to
USPS mishandling is not covered by USPS and you will have to seek a
refund from eBay with their Buyer Protection Plan with the USPS listed
as AT FAULT.
International Shipping
International
buyers take note, you will pay the initial postage to have it shipped
to the eBay International Shipping Center in Kentucky, and an additional
amount to get it to you overseas. eBay calculates the entire cost and
adds it to your purchase before checkout. Be advised, once it arrives at
the Shipping Center it is completely OUT OF MY CONTROL and I will not
cover any loss or damage after that.
Packaging Your Records & CDs
CDs
are packed in padded envelopes or similar. Records are packed in LP
mailers with sufficient extra
packing material. I take every reasonable precaution to securely pack
your records. For older sleeves with potential for seem splitting during
shipping, I will pack the vinyl in a separate
sleeve to avoid splitting during shipping. Unfortunately though, once it
is out of my hands, the USPS is sometimes careless in handling the
package, especially Media Mail packages, which are sorted at the USPS
with heavy boxes of books. Unless you choose USPS Priority Mail, which
the USPS includes insurance up to $100 value, your package via Media
Mail is
NOT insured for loss or damage during USPS delivery, and any such claim
would have to be made
through the eBay Buyer Protection Plan with the USPS listed as AT
FAULT.
Returns
I
accept returns if you are not satisfied with your record purchase. See
the "Returns" conditions for details. I do NOT pay for return shipping. On some occasions I will not accept returns for a record that is very
rare. I cannot take the chance that someone will buy it, swap out the
vinyl and then ship it back. Sorry, that happened once and I cannot
allow it to happen again. Records listed as "No Returns Accepted" fall
into this category. So please look at the pics carefully before you
purchase it and contact me if you want me to play test expensive
records before you purchase them.
CD Visual Grade Summaries:
Near Mint (NM)
An
item that has been opened or removed from the manufacturer’s
sealing but is in otherwise "Like New" condition. Looks as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap. No visible
wear, and all facets of the CD and the Case are flawless and intact. Also known as a "Like New" visual grade. See the
seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Excellent (EX)
Close to NM but has one or two minor flaws. The CD may have one or two very minor surface flaws such as a faint hairline or slight surface scuff that do not effect playback. The Jewel case or cardboard sleeve has no cracks, obvious scratches or tears and only minimal faint surface flaws or slightly worn cardboard sleeve corners indicating is it not brand new. The teeth of disk
holder are undamaged. The
cover art and liner notes are included. See the
seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Very Good (VG+)
The CD may have
several very minor surface flaws such as hairline scratches or
surface scuffs that do not effect playback. No damage to the Jewel case or cardboard sleeve. Minimal wear on the exterior of the case or sleeve; only a few minor scuffs, scratches, or dinged corners of the cardboard sleeve. The
cover art and liner notes are included. The teeth of disk
holder are undamaged. See the seller’s listing
for full details and description of any imperfections.
Very Good (VG)
The CD is obviously used and will have more surface flaws such as hairline scratches or scuffs that occasionally effect playback on some CD players, but most of the tracks will play without any issues. May have minor damage to jewel case
including scuffs or cracks, broken hinges, or the teeth of disk
holder are damaged. The cover art and liner notes are included. See the seller’s
listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Good (G)
An
item with obvious and significant wear but is still operational. Plays
with some occasional audible issues such as ticks, stutters, freezes, or skips on
more than two songs. Obvious wear to the Jewel case or cardboard sleeve, may include scratches, cracks, broken hinges, broken teeth, or rips, creases and dinged corners of the cardboard sleeve. May be missing some case inserts but not the main front and back artwork. Also known as a visual grade of "Acceptable" . See the seller’s listing for full details and
description of any imperfections.
Record Play Grade Summaries:
Audible Surface Noise (ASN) is defined as any single occurrence or combination of underlying hiss, crackle, ticks, or pops.
( *I use " + " and " - " from G to VG- when one side is better than the other side or its a "borderline" judgement.)
NM: Rare occurrences, if any, of minimal audible surface noise (ASN) and only during some quiet passages or between some tracks. Plays nearly flawlessly even for the most demanding audiophile listener.
EX: May have occasional minor audible surface noise (ASN) but only during some quiet passages or between some tracks.
VG+: Expect occasional minor to mild audible surface noise (ASN) during some quiet passages and between some tracks, but rarely overpowers the music. May have slight warp but does not adversely effect on playback experience.
VG: Expect mild to moderate audible surface noise (ASN) during most quiet passages and between most tracks. There may also be an occasional series of ticks or occasional pops. No skips or repeats. May have slight warp but there is no significant adverse effect on playback experience.
G+: Plays through without major multiple occurrences of skipping or repeats, but has significant moderate to heavy audible surface noise (ASN), including crackling, ticks, pops and underlying hiss unless overpowered the music.
G or F (Fair): Has several skips or repeats caused by any combination of warps or deep scratches and other flaws that penetrate the vinyl surface. Has significant audible surface noise (ASN) present throughout most of the playing experience.
Visual Record Grading (Vinyl/Cover)
*I use " + " and " - " from G to VG- when one side is better than the other side or its a borderline judgment.
In
the end, record grading is a subjective process, so please take
everything into account: the description, the pictures, and the visual
grade before making your purchase. I make every attempt to grade
accurately but one man's VG+ might be another person's VG. Some records are play tested and I provide a separate play grade. Please read
the play grade definitions carefully above, and visual grade definitions below. If you are interested in purchasing an expensive record, send me a request to test it first if I have not already provided a Play Grade (PG).
All records are cleaned
with Disc Doctor Miracle Record Cleaner or similar and are inspected and visually
graded for condition using a modified Goldmine Record Grading System
(see below) before being listed. I do not have the time to test play
every record, but if you are seriously interested in a rare or expensive
record please contact me and I will play test it for you first. I try
to include pictures of potentially penetrating scratches or the worse visual flaws, and spot check
playing the worse looking ones.
I have an excellent feedback
rating and many people comment that my record grading is very
accurate if not under-graded. If you receive your record and disagree with my description , or discover a skip or other serious defect that I did not note in the description,
please contact me prior to leaving feedback and we will work out a
return or partial refund if you decide to keep it.
Sealed (S)
Sealed but that does not mean Mint because there may be hidden damage to the vinyl that will only be known if you open it.
Near Mint (NM)
In
layman's terms, a Near Mint record means overall it almost looks like you just
bought it at the record store new but it may have one or two very minor
flaws, do not expect it to be perfect and without any minor surface flaws that do not affect playback.
The record should show no obvious signs of wear.
An
LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable
similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same
should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and
the like.
Basically, an LP in near mint condition nearly looks
as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the
shrink wrap.
Excellent (EX)
I
include an EX rating for records that overall look NM, that is they
look almost like you just bought them new with original sheen and luster but
they may have a few minor surface "marks" or surface "scuffs/skids" or even
one or two hairlines, but mostly DO NOT effect playback. Records graded EX may still have occasional minor audible surface noise (A.S.N.) during some quiet passages and between some tracks. The covers also look
new but may have a few very minor flaws such as a ding on a corner, or
very very minor ring wear but otherwise looks almost brand new. These
records and covers fall in between VG+ and NM.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
A
Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and
otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.
Record
surfaces may show some signs of wear and will have some slight surface scuffs/skids
or very fine "hairline" scratches that don't affect one's listening
experiences other than an occasional tick. There may be some
crackling especially during quiet passages and in between tracks but
generally does not over power the music, it may be reduced after
professionally deep cleaned. Slight warps that do not affect the sound
are "OK". You may hear occasional minor to mild audible surface noise (A.S.N.) during some quiet passages and between some tracks.
The label may have some ring wear or discoloration,
but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been
misshapen by repeated play.
Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves
will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam
split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred
by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of
print and sold at a discount.
In general, if not for a couple
things wrong with it, this would be EX. All but the most mint-crazy
collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.
Very Good (VG)
Many
of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG
disc. Surface noise and crackling will be evident upon playing and
persistent during soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, and
will sometimes overpower the music. Expect to hear mild to moderate audible surface noise (A.S.N). during quiet passages and between tracks. Groove wear will start to be more
noticeable, losing most of the original sheen and luster, and with
numerous, surfaces flaws such as swipes, scuffs/kids, light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that
will occasionally affect the sound. There may even be one or two deeper
scratches that cause pops and minor skips.
Labels may be marred
by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The
same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers, showing more
pronounced ring, edge, and corner wear and ding, and shelf wear which
looks like "snow" on the front and sometimes even the back cover. Thee
may be a seam split as well. However, it will not have all of these
problems at the same time.
Good (G), Good Plus (G+) (My G is what other sellers call "Fair")
Good
does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put
onto a turntable and will play through without major skipping. But it
will have significant surface noise, crackling, and scratches and
visible groove wear with most of the original sheen gone and the overall
look of the vinyl being flat and dull.
A cover or sleeve will
have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Ring wear,
shelf wear "snow" and other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
It
is a common item, you'll probably find another copy in better shape
eventually. Pass it up. But, if it's something you have been seeking for
years, and the price is right, get it...but keep looking to upgrade.
I
only list items that have a G or G+ rating for either the cover or the
vinyl but not both. It is intended for people who are seeking to replace
just one of these, but not both. You have a fine record but you need to
replace the cover or vice versa.
Poor (P)
The
record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without
skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all
three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely
keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled,
and written upon.
Except for impossibly rare records otherwise
unattainable, records in this condition should be bought or sold for no
more than a few cents each.
I only list items that have a P
rating for either the cover or the vinyl but not both. It is intended
for people who are seeking to replace just one of these, but not both.
You have a fine record but you need to replace the cover or vice versa.
