Originally released in 2004 and noted for being Finland's most expensively produced album (until their next follow up), Once would serve as the fifth full-length from symphonic metal giants Nightwish. Their final work with original vocalist Tarja Turunen before the Anette Olzon era, the project is highly regarded for its straying further from the group's original power metal compositions while embracing their more orchestral approach, with the LP marking the dawn of their continuing collaborative partnership with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, whose contributions have helped to elevate the band to an upper echelon of operatic grandeur in the decades since.
