1977 is often considered the year that punk peaked and then died, when in actuality the genre and scene were only starting to truly take root around this time, with several iconic contributions such as the self-titled debut LP from homegrown London outfit The Boys. Born out of the departure of Matt Dangerfield from London SS, and Casino Steel from Hollywood Brats, the pair would land a record deal with NEMS off of the strength of their debut single, 'I Don't Care', leading to touring as support for John Cale of Velvet Underground, while the arrival of their quintessential pop-inflected scrappy pub-punk full-length would see them joining the John Peel Sessions alumni later that same year.
