This is the UK 1st Press version, released in June 1970 of Rod Stewart - Gasoline Alley. Released on the collectable Vertigo Swirl label, this comes with the beautiful textured " Crocodile Skin" gatefold sleeve, and the all important matching Vertigo Swirl inner sleeve.
Long before Mr. Stewart in a dinner jacket was pumping out cheesy Great American Songbook CDs, he was recording raw bluesy stuff like this with the help of mates like Ronnie Wood and Ronnie Lane. No surprise that It's All Over Now is here, plus a wonderful version of Country Comfort from Elton John's Tumbleweed Connection released the same year. Every track on this album is a gem.
The record has been ultrasonically cleaned in our amazing Degritter and has come up sparkling clean with good lustre and some non feelable scuff marks, mainly on Side A,that look worse than they are. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded VG but plays close to VG+.
Playback reveals a warm and analogue tone with typical Vertigo in the room sound and lovely low frequency. There is some low noise, more so on Track 1, which does subside as it plays through. An evocative and nostalgic listening experience.
The rigid cardboard gatefold sleeve is similarly warm & tactile. Solid & strong with no splits, writing or tape. Light age related wear to corners, spine & edges, & some minor marks inside, but overall still really good for the age.
The all important matching Vertigo inner sleeve ( with correct number B 1/0470) is present with some age discolouration & creasing, but still doing a great job all these years on.
A lovely copy of a 55 year old classic, for any Vertigo Swirl collector, or simple someone that wants to soak up the atmosphere of the 1970 British Pop scene.
