Pink Floyd : The Dark Side Of The Moon A-2 / B-2 1st Press Solid Blue 1973
Complete with Original Posters & Stickers
This first pressing plays to a superb standard with only minimal intrusion. A small number of light clicks right at the start and some minor ticks on one brief section during 'Us And Them' on S2. Apart from that is plays with STUNNING quality and it has quite possibly the finest example of 'The Great Gig...' that I have ever listened to. Plenty of other highlights also! The clarity, depth, warmth and power of the audio is so impressive on both sides and it's not often you find a solid blue first press playing with such quality. There is no skip on 'Money' by the way, I've sold a number of these down the years and haven't found one that does, a bit of a myth in my opinion!
The 'midnight blue' gatefold is in superb condition with only very minimal wear and nothing obvious. There is none of the surface rub / fading that you so often find. The original posters and stickers are in superb condition with hardly any wear and the original black inner sleeve (with silver text on one side) is very clean but with one large edge split. A great 'package' overall though and like I say the sonic quality is incredible for the vast majority.

The audio on S1 is Mint(-) (T1 heartbeat intro VG- / T3 Near Mint)
The audio on S2 is Mint(-) (T2 opening section Ex+ then Near Mint / T5 Near Mint)
The 'midnight blue' gatefold is Ex+
The posters are Ex+ / Near Mint
The stickers are Ex+ / Near Mint
The original black inner sleeve is VG
The solid blue labels are Near Mint Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still retains a strong glossy sheen with only minimal marking. There is one tiny scratch at the beginning of S1 and a couple of small faint marks towards the end of the side. S2 has a thumbnail type hairline mark across the first track but still isn't that obvious. Aside from that the vinyl just has some light hairlines and there is no groove wear or 'bag rash'. The run out grooves are extremely clean and the solid blue labels are stunning with only minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The heartbeat intro on 'Speak To Me' has no background static or crackle but does play with a tick / light click once per revolution. However, you can barely hear it by the time the 'spoken' section begins. As it builds the clarity is stunning and Torry's end vocal is just perfect. I will grade the opening section as VG- and the remainder as Mint
The segue into 'Breathe' is faultless and the entire intro then plays with clarity, depth and warmth that could not be any stronger, I noticed just one barely audible static towards the end. Why I mention I do not know! The first verse from Gilmour has only a couple of very quiet statics and the second verse is equally as impressive. A superb Mint- version.
'On The Run' plays with superb audio from the word go. The intro has only one minor tick and from then on the sonic quality is phenomenal. The depth and resonance of the audio is up there with the best I have ever heard and every footstep and breath is so clean. The 'crash' has no distortion and the 'running man' section has only a small number of light ticks for a few seconds, the closing section is perfect. Near Mint
The segue into 'Time' is near perfect with only a couple of minor statics and the 'clocks' then reverberate so clearly and with zero distortion. The metronome section then plays with sublime clarity and depth, I cannot express just how good it is! Gilmour's opening vocal and Wright's first 'chorus' have no interference and the classic mid solo is of the same high end standard. There is often a little distortion during this section but not this time! A strong dynamic sound and great separation also. The final verse and chorus again have no intrusion and I am confident in grading this as Mint- such is the quality of the audio.
'Breathe Reprise' keeps up the good work and plays with real quality throughout. No ticks, clicks, pops or static it is Mint from start to finish.
The gentle piano intro on 'The Great Gig In The Sky' plays with exceptional clarity and I only heard a 2/3 very quiet statics. The first 'spoken' section is on the same level and then Torry's opening vocal is outstanding! The power and depth is second to none and you can turn it up to max without it affecting the playback. Absolutely STUNNNING! The sonic quality during this entire section is on another level and the next quieter passage plays with incredible clarity also. It continues in the same precise way and the closing section is so clean also. I cannot emphasise enough just how well this classic plays, every note is just so clean and precise, you miss nothing. Even the final note, as it rises and falls, plays with wonderful clarity. This truly is a special version and as we all know it's difficult to find one as 'clean' as this on a genuine first pressing. I cannot remember when I last heard a Mint- one but that grade is well deserved here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cash register intro on 'Money' plays with exceptional clarity, a couple of barely audible statics at most, and Waters' bass section has just one mega quiet tick. So quiet and totally non-intrusive. The opening two verses have no interference and the instrumental plays with imperious quality through every section. Beginning with the sax solo the audio is so strong and clear and Gilmour's solos are phenomenal! I heard just one very light tick during this section and the final vocal has no background. The spoken end section is very clean with only a couple of minor statics. A Mint- version in my opinion.
The intro on 'Us And Them' has only a little light static right at the start and Mason and co come in the sound is so clean. After 20 or so seconds there are 4/5 ticks but they are by no means loud. The first sax section plays beautifully with only two minor statics and opening vocal section plays with great clarity and warmth. Perhaps just a hint of static in a couple of places but so so quiet. The first chorus is 'as new' with a power and depth that cannot be faulted and the next 'verse' is near perfect with only a couple of background statics. It continues in much the same way with nothing getting in the way of the audio. There are no ticks, clicks or pops and the next instrumental / 'spoken' section / sax solo is a fine example of that. The high octane passage that follows is breathtakingly good and the final verses / chorus once again show just how this vinyl has been preserved. I will say the opening section grades as Ex+ but is Near Mint from that point on with much of it grading higher than that if I'm honest. 'Any Colour You Like' plays with outstanding quality through every section and for once there is no static distortion on the top end. The power and definition of the audio is of the highest calibre and Mint is deserved here.
The segue into 'Brain Damage' has no background Water's opening vocal section is just as clean. As the volume increases the 'chorus' can only be described 'as new' and it continues to play with stunning sonic quality. A handful of barely audible statics but even to mention them is hardly necessary as they are so darn quiet! The closing instrumental is flawless and this is quite simply a stunning Mint- version.
The segue into 'Eclipse' is superb and Waters' opening vocal has zero intrusion. This power and definition is kept up as it progresses and if there is any inner groove distortion on the top end you barely notice it. The heartbeat outro plays so clearly with no ticks, clicks etc and only very minimal light static towards the end. I think Near Mint is a fair assessment for this closing classic. A stunning album in so many ways.
The Gatefold, Posters & Stickers & Inner Sleeve
The iconic midnight blue G & L cover has retained its original shape and structure so well with no bending or creasing. The edges are incredibly clean and the spine is also in superb shape with no wear either. The corners are so so often worn but that is certainly not the case here, there is just one tiny corner rub bottom right, and the opening edge has no obvious handling wear. The front cover is stunning and has lost none of its original colour - there is just one very faint line in the centre but there are no 'scores' or scratches at all. Rarely seen this clean! The sticker top right is still firmly in place with just one minor crease that you can only see at a certain angle. The back cover is just as impressive with just one small blemish, a faint line near the top edge and another faint line in the centre. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate with no fading / surface rub around the edges. This has been so well preserved and is a stunning example of its kind.
The two posters are in superb condition with no pinholes in the corners and no creasing. Only the band poster has a small number of very faint spots on a couple of edges. The two Crack Back stickers are in great condition also with just three small faint spots on one of them and a minor crease on the other.
The original poly-lined black inner does have a large split on one edge and a tiny one on the other side plus a couple of minor 'nicks' on the top edge but is otherwise very clean with no marking and only minimal creasing.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
