Note on “Promo”, “Demo”, “ Not for Sale” etc.:

This issue has been addressed legally, and reference is made in the authoritative reference, Goldmine Record Album Price Guide, 7th edition, pg 9.  It states that the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court affirmed in a 388-page ruling, that once the manufacturer released such marked items, they had made the first “sale”, and thus the record is OK for subsequent sale in the free market.   As an aside, some collectors seek out such promos as a more rare item for their collection.
