Nu-New-Wave occult art-pop outfit Yacht aka Jona Bechtolt follows up the warmly received 'Summer Song' 12" with a full album of exuberant indie disco for DFA. 'See Mystery Lights' is their electronically realised vision of sharply honed pop vocals paying homage to the B-52's as much as R. Kelly, and augmented by Bechtolt's drum machines, guitars, synths and software FX. It's a properly post-modern mongrel blend of styles, flinging himself and female vocal spar Claire L. Evans from Bad Brains style punk stompers 'It's Boring/You Can Live Anywhere You Want To', to Beach Boys harmonics mixed Panda Bear style into techno-pop shapes on 'Ring The Bell', or addictively melodic electro-indie on recent single 'Psychic City (Voodoo City). Fun times.
