I'm selling a copy of the album "Meet Oliver Nelson" by the Oliver Nelson Quintet. The band consists of the leader Oliver Nelson on tenor sax, Kenny Dorham on trumpet, Ray Bryant on piano, Wendell Marshall on bass and Art Taylor on the drums. It's a 6 track stereo vinyl album that was originally released by Riverside Records in 1959 and then re-issued in 1986 by the Original Jazz Classics imprint with a catalogue number of OJC 227.
The LP is in NM- condition: no real visible scratches or marks - plays nice and loud! The sleeve is in VG+ condition: minor ring-wear and creasing

debut as a leader found him at the age of 27 already a distinctive and skilled tenor-saxophonist. For this quintet set (reissued on LP in the OJC series), teams up with the veteran trumpeter , pianist , bassist and drummer for four of his originals plus the ballads "Passion Flower" and "What's New." Although none of these tunes caught on, this was an impressive beginning to a short but productive career and gives one a strong example of the multi-talented tenor playing.
