Make
sure to check out all of my auctions after you look at this one. I'm listing another eclectic assortment of antiques and collectibles, and I
suspect there will be something to interest just about everyone.
Here's an excellent copy of an early 7" Berliner Gramophone Record. Title is "Medley of Irish Airs," and it's performed by Sousa's Band. Record no. is 8009Z. Last patent date stamped into the record is Oct. 29, 1895. There is no pressing date etched into the interior. This is one several collectible Berliner titles I'll be listing in the next few weeks.
Typically these Berliner records are in rough shape, but this one -- like the others I'll be selling -- is surprisingly nice, with a reasonably clean playing surface and no skips, repeats or loud pops as the record plays through. There's normal groove wear, but no warped areas, no buckling, no divots, no significant marks of any type. I played the entire record through on a period-correct phonograph, and it sounds pretty good for any early acoustic record, all the more so for a Berliner title. There's the ususal hiss and background noise, but nothing distracting.
If you're bidding from overseas, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote. That's about it. I will pack the record carefully and properly. I've been shipping
fragile antique phonographs and wireless sets for years, and I know how
to get them to you safely. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal
okay.
