Part of Music on Vinyl’s extensive Leonard Cohen range, 1979’s Recent Songs marked a return to The Canadian’s token acoustic folk following the experimental Death of a Ladies Man.
Even so, its numbers bore a clutch of jazz and oriental influences, marking it as one of Cohen’s most creative - and indeed confounding - records.
