Effectively a reaction following the commercial underperformance of 1999’s Guerrilla, the record was, ironically, something of a success, becoming the first of its type to hit the UK top 20 and being referred to in Parliament as a celebration of “a new wave of confidence in the Welsh nation.”

It was also a musical triumph, with Gruff Rhys penning some of his most personal lyrics and describing it as the moment the group clearly established their own sound.
