Having spent recent years establishing himself among the most affecting and thoroughly excellent cult songwriters in Britain, Keaton Henson’s three LPs are each being granted an overdue vinyl repress.
Released without warning in 2014, third album Romantic Works represented a leftfield turn for the Londoner, abandoning the harrowing intimacy of its predecessor, Birthdays, for a style he dubbed “bedroom classical.”
Having taught himself the arts of orchestration and arrangement, its songs allowed Henson the opportunity to articulate stories he couldn’t not translate into words, while the suddenness of its unveiling only added to his mysterious allure.
Pressed on 180g vinyl, this gem comes highly recommended.
