In the early 70's,  popular Quebec singer & TV host Jacques Salvail briefly ventured into somewhat heavier prog-friendly rock....taking the approach of other popular Quebec 'crooners" of the time, and following the lead of Jean-Pierre Ferland ("Jaune"), Donald Lautrec ("Fluffy") and Pierre Lalonde ("Inouik").

Following their two album contract with RCA, progressive rock band Morse Code Transmission joined forces with Salvail, touring with him and collaborating on this one album (released on the local micro-label "Image"),  with the group's founder Christian Simard co-writing 11 of the 12 tracks.

Within the next year, the band signed with Capitol Records, shortening their name officially to "Morse Code", and they ultimately released 4 brilliant Genesis-Yes-influenced Prog albums.

 

Jacques Salvail (lead vocals) with Morse Code Transmission founding members:  Christian Simard (vocals, keyboards, arrangements, co-producer), Raymond Roy (drums), Michell Vallée (bass), Daniel Lemay (guitars).

Co-produced and sound engineered  by Peter Tessier (who released his own rare gem, "By Turning a Knob" just a couple of months earlier).

** Also features Germain Gauthier on guitars (misspelled on the crdits as "Bermain Gauthier") ......who's co-recorded with and collaborated on several coveted albums like Roger Rodier's self-titled psych gem, the PinBall Summer soundtrack, Claire Lepage & Compagnie, Moonquake,  etc.)
