John Paris:  Rendezvous Mit John Paris Im Pferdestall, Vinyl Record Album LP

Signed 1966 CBS 62351 Album Cover and record from Germany.

"For George with best wishes from the old 'stable' 22/4/66"

John Paris (1914-1979) opened a bar in Gravenbruch near Frankfurt, Germany in the 1960's called Pferdestall (Horse-Stable).

From Personal Collection, has not been played in over ten years, but carefully stored.

From Liner Notes:

"John Paris was born in England, as a matter of face in Liverpool, however he is not related to the Beatles!  He studied electrical engineering at first, but was soon discovered as a singer by British bandleader Jack Jackson (not England's Nr. 1 Disc jockey).  He sang with Jackson at London's Dorchester Hotel and also broadcast once a week on the BBC.  Two years later, he formed his own band and toured Holland, Switzerland and Austria.  He then went back home to Argentina where his family has lived for many years.  Here he began his career as a solo vocalist with a 15 minute daily show on Radio Splendid.

"In 1946 John went to the USA where he sang with Paul Whiteman who said of him, 'He sings like my one-time protege, Bing Crosby, but in four languages!'  At the end of 1949 he returned to South-America, touring Brasil (sic), Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.  And in 1951 he opened his own club in Buenos Aires - 'ASCOT' - strangely enough, also in equestrian style, as is the 'Pferdestall' or 'stable' where today he plays 'mine host'.  John spent Coronation year 1952-1953 in England working on the BBC and doing Club-dates.  After spending a year in Spain at Parilla Rex in Madrid (1953-1954), he came to Germany on holiday, bringing with him an Argentine folksong (Carnavalito), that he had introduced in England and Spain.  He auditioned for Willy Berking at the Hessiacher Rundfunk in Frankfurt and was offered an engagement at the Frankfurt Radio and Television Station.  This was quickly followed by a recording contract and in 1955 the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt and the Norddeutscher Rundfunk in Hamburg made him a Disc-jockey.  His show specialised (sic) in non-German-pops and ran for 9 years.

"Nowadays, as mentioned above John is 'at home' 6 days a week (never on sunday!) in the Pferdestall in Gravenbruch where he entertains his guests in five languages - on this LP you will find a selection of the most popular numbers you are likely to hear at a Rendezvous with John Paris in the Pferdestall."
