DESCRIPTION FROM CRUCIAL BLAST:
An eye-popping picture disc dressed up in 1977 style punk collage artwork is the delivery device for this full length album from Sickness, the prolific American harsh noise project of Chris Goudreau. Sickness has been belting out ultra heavy harsh noise since 1997, and the projects sound is a bit different from most other American noise artists. Arguably much more "composed" and focused, instead of the harsh walls of droning ultradistorted white noise that other artists construct, Sickness takes those abrasive electronic textures, brutal chunks of distorted buzz, and crushing low-end jet engine drones and cuts 'em apart into hunks of viscous sound that are assembled into sprawling collages of complex (but teeth-rattling) sound. There is a rhythmic drive at the heart of much of Sickness' noise too, and that's never been more apparent to me than with this LP from RRRecords, with it's fast-paced cutup of harsh noise mashing with speedy rhythmic blasts that sometimes almost sounds like a gabber 12" being remixed on a destroyed turntable by a DJ who happens to be spinning with claw hammers where his hands used to be. Raw, ferocious abstract distortion that reveals a methodology underneath it's surface of chaotic grind and skree. It's not very often that I use a term like "technical" to describe a noise record, but there you go. A couple of hypnotic lock-grooves close each side of the record.
This has some snarky track titles too, in keeping with the overall theme of this record, like "Post Rock Harsh Electronic DSP Modeled Hyper Edited No Beat Analog Loop Based Guitar Noodle LFO Madness Vocal Freak-out Lo-Fi Brooding Dark Apolcalyptic Free Jazz Evil Old School Industrial Neo Minimalist Crust No Overdub Live Punk Cassette Tape Soundtrack For Your Generation", "Making Love To Your Tape Collection In 3 Easy Steps", "When Only You Knew Music Was Good", and "Disgrace The Corpses Of Jojo And Junko".
