THE BEATLES
Rubber Soul

Very Rare 'Loud Cut' Press!

On offer here is a rare, original mono copy of the Beatles LP 'Rubber Soul' on the UK Parlophone label. This is the early press that features the -1/-1 matrix endings, indicating that this is a highly collectible 'loud cut' copy of this album!

When Rubber Soul was initially issued with the -1/-1 matrix endings the mix was slightly different to how it is today. These early copies (it is said) featured a muddier bass and a more harsh vocal sound. For some reason the deadwax on the loud cut copies is much wider, leading people to believe that the grooves were too compressed to give a full enough sound during playback.

The decision was very swiftly made to halt production whilst new mixes were made and re-cut, and production began with the much more common -4/-4 matrix endings. The -4/-4 common copies have a more spaced out groove and the deadwax on each side is noticeably thinner because of this.

Because of this, original loud cut copies of Rubber Soul are very difficult to find due to their high collectibility and scarcity. Here's your chance to pick up a nice copy for your collection!

Please check out large, detailed photos of this record at the bottom of this listing.

The sleeve is holding up okay with a little, usual wear and tear as you can see in the photos below. No splits or tears and looking clean all over with minimal damage. There is a little damage to the bottom right of the back cover where the overflap looks like it's been caught and pulled away. Inner Sleeve Condition The inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. The original tissue-paper lined Emitex sleeve is included and is looking clean with minimal creases and light browning. The sides and bottom has small splits in the middle. Inserts Condition - Disc Condition
(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in VG+ condition. The playing surface, overall, has a nice shine and just some light scuffing. There's a light surface scratch that I can just about feel with my fingernail on side 2 at the 2 o'clock position. It's about an inch or so long and runs through tracks 3, 4 and 5. Just a little, light mark but needed to be mentioned. Label Condition The labels are in VG+/EX- condition. The labels are looking fine with some light spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole.

My Regarding Vinyl Grading:

MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
