Nearly 120 years after it was written, Joplin's iconic "Maple Leaf Rag" is now available on 8" "shellac compatible" disc. Mr. Joplin was never recorded during his lifetime but he did make a piano roll, which this recording comes from. The "Improved Gramophone" label was painstakingly recreated as closely as possible to ones of the era. The label has printed in small print at the bottom "Made in 2017", which is also pressed into the disc under the label. The back is unfinished, similar to discs of the era. A clip of it playing on a 1910 Columbia/Standard is below.
All my discs are made in the USA using American materials.
