About the 7" vinyl single: The Disturbed Records label and Square One Records distribution companies are not around any longer, but a few of these singles surely are!
While searching my archive library I found a few of these obscure and underrated 1981 7" vinyl singles, so I figured I'd put them up on eBay.
The band members at the time of this 1981 release were, Alexa Hunter, Phil Shöenfelt, Micki Crash, Stephanie Hameon and Toni Zebe. It was produced, engineered and mixed by Steve Remote at Quadrasonic Studios (aka Quad Recording,) in NYC.
This Disturbed Furniture single (up for sale on eBay) was part of the MoMA, Club 57 exhibit and was on the exhibition wall until April 1st, 2018.
These are new old stock (1981) singles. This is NOT a lot, you can purchase one or all of them.
About the band:
Disturbed Furniture burned furiously during the first wave of punk, from 1979-1982, when they played all the major clubs in New York, Boston and New Jersey, opening for such bands as the Psychedelic Furs, The Stranglers, The Waitresses, The Go-Go’s, Tom Robinson, and Lydia Lunch.
They recorded one 7” single, which has become a cult classic. Never before screened film and videos of the band were included in the show opening Halloween 2017 at (MoMA) the Museum of Modern Art: Club 57: Film, Performance and Art in the East Village 1978-1983. This exhibition was open until April 1st, 2018.
Four original members of the band, Alexa Hunter, Jorge Arevalo, Steve Remote and Mick Oakleaf reunited in November 2017 after a 35 hiatus to play a couple of shows in honor of the (MoMA) the Museum of Modern Art: Club 57: Film, Performance and Art in the East Village 1978-1983. Alexa, Jorge, Steve and Mick have been performing, writing, producing and/or recording music in those intervening years in New York and California, just not together. They performed some of their 1980s work as well as some very new material.
About the MoMA exhibition: "Beginning October 31 (through April 1, 2018), the Museum of Modern Art unveils “Club 57: Film, Performance, and Art in the East Village, 1978–1983.” Curated by Ron Magliozzi and Sophie Cavoulacos, the exhibition revisits the work of the club’s better-known regulars, alongside that of free spirits like the artist John Sex, who created many of its posters and flyers; the dancer and fashion designer Shawn McQuate, better known as AMMO; and the photographer Tseng Kwong Chi. For artist Ann Magnuson, the venue’s original performance director and the show’s guest curator, Club 57 “is like a memorial for creative freedom and all these amazing cultural shape-shifters, many of whom left us before they were afforded the recognition they deserved.”
