Another definitive doom metal release from Candlemass, and this one dropped in 1987, a year after the band's booming debut, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Thundering riffs and sombre melodies once again dominate the epic album, but Nightfall is when Messiah Marcolin joined as the new vocalist, and his contribution steals the show. Operatic and drenched in vibrato, his remarkable tone pushes the band's intense sound into fierier pits.
