How it Works and More!

RECORD REViRGiNiZER is a viscous, non-toxic liquid that is poured onto a vinyl record. It is then massaged into the surface of the record and left to set. After setting it is easily peeled from the records surface, at the same time taking all the microscopic contaminants with it; it's a bit like a facemask...but for vinyl records!

REViRGiNiZER is formulated with just the right elasticity to remove all the embedded material, but at the same time it does not leave any residue, nor does it damage your vinyl in any way. The anti-static properties of the formula ensure that once the film is peeled off your vinyl will be static free. You can clean and restore your records close to their original condition and in some cases (due to residue left behind from the manufacturing mold release compounds) it can actually improve the sound of a brand new record as well.

With a REViRGiNiZER treatment, your music will have a superior depth and clarity; this is another reason vinyl is enjoyed by audiophiles worldwide.

With a REViRGiNiZER treatment, you can now sit back and enjoy your precious vinyl recordings just like they were new.

What makes RECORD REViRGiNiZER better than all other record cleaners?
Most “record cleaners” are primarily made from harsh chemicals or are alcohol based. These cleaners are used to buff the surface of the record which leaves the record looking shiny, but do nothing to get rid of the deeply imbedded dirt, oils and mould that are the causes of the pops and crackles.
RECORD REViRGiNiZER is a viscous polymer that is extremely soft and gentle (both chemically and physically) on vinyl records and does not damage your fragile record grooves in any way. REViRGiNiZER was developed with the assistance of James Cook University and was specifically developed for professional vinyl record archivists/restorers, professional collectors, and records of musical and/or cultural significance that need to be restored.
Buffing, Static and Gravity
Most “record cleaners” require you to buff a chemical liquid onto the surface of the record until the records surface is dry. This buffing action is extremely detrimental to the condition of the vinyl record, as the friction caused by the buffing works with gravity to push the mould, oils and surface dirt deeper into the microscopic vinyl grooves. At the same time the buffing causes the vinyl record to become statically charged. Static causes the vinyl surface to become a magnet to dirt and dust particles, so in reality buffing vinyl records does them far more harm than good.

RECORD REViRGiNiZER is unique when compared to other “record cleaners”, the REViRGiNiZER polymer is massaged, not buffed into the vinyl records surface, it then works with gravity to seep right to the bottom of your records microscopic grooves. REViRGiNiZER then starts the restoration process by hydrating and capturing the mould, oils and deeply imbedded dirt that cause the pops and crackles. Once dry REViRGiNiZER is easily pealed from the record and the dirt, mould and oils that were the cause of the pops and crackles are removed along with dried REViRGiNiZER film.
Chemical Residue
Most “record cleaners” leave a chemical residue on the surface of the vinyl record that can cause the vinyl to break down over time and also can clog the record grooves. When you peel the dried REViRGiNiZER film from your record’s surface there is no chemical residue left on your vinyl record whatsoever. RECORD REViRGiNiZER does not change the chemical structure of your vinyl record in any way.
Why shouldn't I just use wood glue?
Wood glue is not designed for restoring Vinyl Records. It should NEVER be used on rare records, or records with musical or cultural significance, as the wood glue is capapble of causing irreparable damage in a number ways.
Damage
Wood glue is specifically designed to form a lifelong bond to surfaces that it is applied to, and when applied to a records surface it will not always successfully come away from the vinyl surface cleanly. Tiny fragments of wood glue can be brittle and tear off in the microscopic crevices in the walls of the record, and if ruining your irreplaceable piece of vinyl is not enough, you also run the risk of the remaining wood glue catching onto your stylus; if you are using a high quality stylus and cartridge that could cost you thousands of dollars in damage.
When you remove REViRGiNiZER from your records surface, it is designed to separate gently and easily from the record surface so there is nothing left behind in the record grooves that could ruin a valuable record, or damage your stylus.
When wood glue is separated from the vinyl records surface, there is a high amounts of force exerted  on the delicate peaks and walls of the record grooves, which can cause the grooves to deform, split or separate from the record completely. Vinyl records that are starting to structurally break down or are fragile and brittle are particularly at risk of irreparable damage from wood glue.
REViRGiNiZER is very soft and elastic and exerts almost no stress on any part of the vinyl record.
Static
When wood glue is applied to a vinyl record and left to dry, it then needs to be forcefully peeled from the surface.  The result of separating the two dry surfaces is that an enormous static charge is generated. The static charge is then absorbed by the surface of the vinyl record, effectively turning the record into a huge dust magnet. REViRGiNiZER is a polymer that when removed from a record does not cause static on the vinyls surface..
What’s RECORD REViRGiNiZER made of?
The RECORD REViRGiNiZER polymer was developed specifically for vinyl record restoration with the assistance of James Cook University, Australia. The developer and Managing Director of Record Revirginizer, Cary Stoddard received an award for research and innovation from James Cook University and Uniquest for RECORD REViRGiNiZER in 2009.
Sorry, the rest is a secret.
Is it safe?
RECORD REViRGiNiZER is absolutely safe for both vinyl records and humans (but tastes terrible).
Can I use it on shellac records?
You actually can use RECORD REViRGiNiZER on Shellac (78rpm) Records, BUT REViRGiNiZER contains a small amount of alcohol to assist drying and alcohol is known to react with shellac. We therefore cannot guarantee 100% results, but having said that, test so far have been very positive.

How many records can I clean and restore per bottle?
One 500 ml bottle of RECORD REViRGiNiZER will restore both sides of up to 16 double sided 12” LP’s. We recommend that the first time you use REViRGiNiZER you use 20ml per side, just to get a feel for how the polymer spreads over the vinyl surface. After you have used REViRGiNiZER once or twice you can reduce the amount of fluid to 15ml per side.
