Vladimir Vysotsky (1938-1980), was a Russian actor, poet, songwriter, and performer who was considered "the voice of the heart of a nation." His wide-ranging and forthright poems were considered subversive by the Soviet authorities and were barred from publication, but they were the cultural lifeblood for many Russians.

Vysotsky was an immensely popular figure who continued to be revered, read, and listened to long after his death. You might even compare his gravelly voice, use of slang and hard drinking lifestyle to that of the American singer Tom Waits.

His great popularity as an actor was perhaps even exceeded by his popularity as a poet and songwriter; he wrote several hundred songs and poems, as well as incidental music for plays and films. Soviet officialdom permitted few of his songs to be sung on television or in films or to be recorded. His reputation spread by means of his appearances in clubs, factories, and universities and through the mass distribution of homemade (and illegal) tape recordings (magnitizdat) and typescripts and mechanical copies (samizdat).

His lyrical themes ranged from Soviet prison life and internal exile (“Only the final judgment could be worse”) and Soviet official hypocrisy (“I grieve that honour has been put to rout, that backbiting has been deified”) to the exigencies of Russian daily life (crowded living quarters, long food lines, unfair privileges of the elite). More than simply reflecting a difficult reality, he gave many of his fellow citizens the strength to go on. He died of a heart attack at the age of 42, at which point the Soviet authorities allowed his recordings to be published.

On offer here is albums 1-6 of his collected works from the series "At the Concerts of Vladimir Vysotsky":

1) Sentimental Boxer 1987
2) Save Our Souls 1987
3) Moscow Odessa 1988

5) Peace to Your House 1988

NOTE FOR BUYERS: Postal options says "Economy Delivery from outside UK (10 to 22 working days)". But the fact is, ALL ITEMS are sent via Registered Tracked Airmail, and typically take 7-14 days to arrive. This is a limitation of eBay's system, whose only option for tracked delivery from outside the UK is "Tracked delivery from outside UK (2 to 5 working days)" which is a joke... nothing moves that fast with Royal Mail!

Please look at pictures closely and if you have any question please email me before purchasing. I always do the least amount of cleaning allowing for your preference to achieve the look you want. There is always an acquired character from years of use.

About me

My name is Jeff, and I'm from California, working for a British media company in Prague and Odessa, Ukraine where my lovely wife is from and we have a home. So I find lots of cool things during my travels, and love to ebay! You can be sure you'll be satisfied knowing I offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all items I sell, and can accept returns in Europe, the UK and even the USA!

Postage & Shipping

ALL ITEMS ARE SHIPPED REGISTERED AIRMAIL. This is simply so we can track it and be sure that it gets to where you are.

We often ship items from Odessa, Ukraine. Usually it takes about 4-10 days for a package to arrive to Europe, 10-14 days to USA, Canada and Asia, and 14-21 days to Australia. Delivery to Italy unfortunately may take from 14 days up to 2 months due to the slow work of the Italian post service.

If you need to combine shipping, two or more reduces per item postage charges (depending on weight). If you plan to purchase additional items, please let me know in a message before paying. Proof of postage is always obtained; in the event of loss or damage in transit I can forward you the receipt for submitting a claim with the post office.

Where multiple items are purchased of high value, as well as high value single items, goods are sent only by signed parcel receipt. Note that my work takes me every month from London to Prague to Odessa and back, I take the items with me, so sometimes items ship from outside the UK with the same quality and care as within, and at local prices. I aim to post within 2 working days of cleared payment.

Returns

In the unlikely event that you need to return your goods, we gladly accept returns! Please make initial contact within 48 hours of receiving the goods for further instructions. For a refund, goods will need to be returned in the same condition as sent, with appropriate packaging and the correct return postage paid for by the buyer within 30 days of receipt. If we have made a gross misrepresentation in the description of the goods, a full refund including return postage will be issued on return of goods.

Terms of Sale

Please be aware that in almost all cases 'vintage jewellery' and 'used items' might show general signs of age related wear and tarnishing and thus will very rarely look brand new. All obvious faults beyond general age related wear and tarnishing will be pointed out to the buyer in the description, which is worth reading in full to avoid disappointment. Our photos are taken to give the buyer a realistic 'visual description' of the item/items on offer. With this in mind please note that the 'actual' dimensions of the items are shown directly in the description to ensure your satisfaction.

Should any problems occur during our transaction please contact us first before leaving feedback so that we can assist you in resolving any issues you may have. Our main aim is to make your buying experience with us an enjoyable hassle-free one, as our feedback suggests!

Payment

Please pay as promptly as possible within 3 days of the end of auction unless otherwise agreed via prior contact. PayPal is the method of payment and we ship out within 24 hours of when payment is received (business days).

Delivery expenses

Please, take into account that some items in our shop can be sent from the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Packing and handling + insurance are included in the shipping cost, which is sent via airmail with signature at about the same price as Royal Mail… I do not put a mark up on postage costs.
