In 2016 I developed new processes to make disc records. Production technologies and physical properties of the early materials were examined and recreated using modern materials. This reproduction Berliner is made of a shellac compatible material which can be played with steel needles exactly the same as a vintage 78rpm record.
This auction is for a reproduction super-early Canadian Berliner disc, #200 "Zampa Ouverture" by the Garde Republicaine de Paris. The European recording angel and Berliner logo are still clearly visible, as are efforts to remove part of the logo. The Canadian patent info has been added, as well as the most interesting part of the disc; those lovely Nippers added on top of the groove wall! That early security feature was surely something devised by Berliner in the wake of the Zonophone lawsuits. It's difficult to find this one in any discographies, and perhaps Berliner started with 200 in Canada? I don't know.
