Carol King Tapestry 1971 1st Press VG-/VG.
For auction is a good listeners copy of the classic album, Tapestry, by singer-songwriter, Carole King. Released in 1971, Tapestry features all original compositions by King, some of which were already hits for other artists since she was a very successful songwriter since the late 1950s. It was her second studio album and was a huge global hit critically and commercially and was her breakthrough album as a singer. Tapestry peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and stayed there for 15 consecutive weeks which still holds the record for most consecutive weeks by a female solo artist. The singles, “It’s Too Late” and “I Feel The Earth Move” both hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and most of the other tracks are now considered classics. The album won 4 Grammy Awards including Album of the Year. It has been certified 13x Platinum in the US and is one of the best selling albums of all time with over 25 million copies sold worldwide. Considered one of the best albums ever recorded, Tapestry, often ends up on many lists. In 2020 it was ranked #25 on Rolling Stone’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The recordings of the album have been preserved by the Library of Congress for its historical and cultural importance. This copy is

Vinyl is play graded VG-. Side 1 has many light visible surface marks that can’t be felt. Side 2 has only a couple. Both play with consistent mild background noise that is never overwhelming. Plays through with no skips or jumps and is an enjoyable listen. Please see pics.
Gatefold cover is in VG condition. Mild shelf wear on corners and seams but no splits. Title is legible. Ring wear on both sides. Super solid. Original Ode Records inner included but generic white is used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.
