For a little while in the early aughts J. dropped the legendary Dinosaur Jr. moniker and recorded incredible albums as J. Mascis & the Fog. This was the first, recorded in 2000. It's pretty hard to come by these days. J. collaborated with Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) and toured it with the incomparable bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen). I caught a couple of dates on that tour and boy were they medallion level. This album holds its own with most of the Dinosaur Jr. catalog. J.'s playing is as intensely visceral as ever. But I digress. The wax is VERY GOOD. It shows a few light scuffs and markings on both sides but nothing feelable (except the music). Of course, these markings have zero negative affect on perfect playback. The sleeve hasn't aged quite as well. It is free of any splits. Signs of wear include: corner, ring, a small chili pepper shaped spot of peeling next to J's silhouette on the front, some sticker reside and ink on the back, and some scuffing. There is a black sharpie strike thru the barcode which some record companies do when they send play promo copies out to record stores. Overall, I'd give the sleeve a G+ approaching VG, as I'm a conservative grader. Sought after with good reason, here's your chance to own an elusive and downright exceptional record from J's ever prolific body of work.
