Pink Floyd The Wall 2x LP 1979 1st Press 2nd Gatefold Variation VG+/VG/VG+.

For auction is a very good to great listeners copy of The Wall by British progressive rockers, Pink Floyd. The double album was released in November 1979 and was the band’s eleventh studio record. The concept album is a “rock opera” about a rock star named Pink who has become bored and depressed and has built a “wall” of isolation around himself. The idea was conceived by bassist Roger Waters and based the character on himself and former band mate, Syd Barrett. The Wall was a great commercial success and topped the Billboard 200 for 15 weeks and reached #1 in ten other countries. It peaked at #3 in the UK. It features the classics, “Mother”, “Goodbye Blue Sky”, “Hey You”, “Comfortably Numb”, “Run Like Hell” and “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2”. The later was a global smash topping the charts in fourteen countries including the US and UK. One of the best-selling albums of all time, The Wall, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. It is also one of the best known records in music history, and is often mentioned on lists of one of the best. In 2020 Rolling Stone ranked it #129 on it’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. This copy is a 1979 1st press with the second gatefold cover variation. The difference is in how the the credits are presented inside on the right. This version says, “Written By Roger Waters”, in big letters with the producers listed under and a little to the left in smaller letters. The original gatefold has the producers above in bigger letters. Please see last two pics for difference.

Record 1 is play graded VG+. Some very light visible surface marks but nothing deep. Slight storage warp that does not affect playback. Plays with faint background noise at times that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.

Gatefold cover is in VG+ condition. Minor shelf wear on corners and seams but no splits. On front there is a tiny price sticker stain on the upper right side. Original inner sleeves with lyrics are included but clear poly ones are used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.
