Bob Dylan 4 Vinyl LP Lot:

Hard Rain (Live):  (Columbia PC 34349; 1976)

This live LP was released in 1976 and contains performances from the second half of the fantastic “Rolling Thunder” tour.  Our copy appears to be a 1976 pressing. The cover is in excellent condition, with only very slight wear on the corners. The vinyl is in excellent condition.

“Hard Rain is, for me, one of the most impressive Dylan albums. It's raw energy, it's really a rolling thunder. The TV special of the concert shows Dylan at his most committed, living through each and every song. No other recording of the second half of the rolling thunder review matches this one. Dylan's rendering of "Idiot Wind" is unsurpassed in its incredibly powerful communication of pain and rage. It builds up gradually up to a point where the song reaches an emotionally almost unbearable limit. Rarely has Dylan gone that far and I've always been surprised how low this album is rated. I guess somebody didn't like because he expected something else and this point of view was copied over the years”.

Saved:  (Columbia Records; 1980 PC 36553) This LP was released in 1980, and was Dylan’s second album from his “Religious Period.”  This is very different from his early material, but there are some great songs, especially “Pressing On.”  Our copy appears to be a 1985 pressing, with new artwork.  The Cover is in excellent condition, still in the shrinkwrap. The vinyl is in excellent condition. This issue contains a plain white inner-sleeve.  This LP is still in the original shrink wrap, with the edge opened only to be able to remove the LP from the cover.  There is also a “Nice Price” sticker.

“A viscerally strong album full of remarkable tunes and some of the strongest singing of Bob"s career. This album is misunderstood by those who are unwilling to listen to Bon reveal his deepest soul. Pressing On moves me to tears every time I hear it. His voice is so full of passion and joy. You don't need to be a Christian to enjoy this album, you just need an open mind.”

Shot Of Love:  (Columbia Records  TC37496; 1981) This LP was released in 1981, and our copy appears to be a original 1981 first release, without "The Groom's Still Waiting At The Altar" (A “B” side that was later added to the album).  This item is released with custom black and white credit sleeve..  The Cover is in excellent condition with slight wear on the corners. The vinyl is in excellent condition.  The album comes with an inner-sleeve with picture and credit notes. This LP is still in the original shrink wrap, with the edge opened only to be able to remove the LP from the cover.  This album is a transition; still part of his religious albums, but you can see the path to his next album, “Infidels.”  This LP contains one of our all time favorite songs, (Every Grain Of Sand”) and one of our least favorites, “Lenny Bruce”.

Shot of Love” finds Dylan still in born-again mode, but he's starting to come alive again -- which isn't as much a value judgment as it is an observation that he no longer seems beholden to repeating dogma, loosening up and crafting songs again. And it's not just that his writing is looser, the music is, too, as he lets himself -- and his backing band -- rock a little harder, a little more convincingly. Shot of Love still isn't a great album, but it once again has flashes of brilliance, such as "Every Grain of Sand," which point the way to the rebirth of .

Infidels:  (Columbia Records  QC38819; 1983) This LP was released in 1983, and our copy appears to be a original 1983 first release.  This item was released with custom-printed inner sleeve, catalog number 38819, with credits, artist catalogue, with a photo of Bob kneeling down on a hill nearby the Mount Temple, Jerusalem.

The Cover is in excellent condition with slight wear on the corners. The vinyl is in excellent condition.  The album comes with an inner-sleeve with picture and credit notes. This LP is still in the original shrink wrap, with the edge opened only to be able to remove the LP from the cover.  The album contains such classics as “Jokerman,” “Sweetheart Like You,” and “License To Kill.”

“Infidels was the first secular record Bob Dylan recorded since , and it's far more like a classicist Dylan album than that one, filled with songs that are evocative in their imagery and direct in their approach. This is lean, much like , but its writing is closer to Dylan's peak of the mid-'70s, and some of the songs here -- particularly on the first side -- are minor classics, capturing him reviving his sense of social consciousness and his gift for poetic, elegant love songs. For a while, Infidels seems like a latter-day masterpiece, but toward the end of the record it runs out of steam, preventing itself from being a triumph. Still, in comparison to everything that arrived in the near-decade before it, Infidels is a triumph, finding Dylan coming tantalizingly close to regaining all his powers”.
