You are bidding on 2 LP Vinyl set from the Chess Masters Blues series, “Chess Blues Masters: Little Walter. This compilation album was released in 1976 on the famous Blues label; Chess Records. (Chess 2ACMB-202). This 1976 compilation includes his great work for the Chess label from 1952 through 1959. Little Walter was one of the 2-3 best harp players from the Chicago Blues era, and possibly of all time. His big hits were “My Babe,” and “Juke” as well as a song later covered in the 70’s, “Boom Boom Out Go The Lights.” He played in Muddy Waters great bands, and he was a blues force until his death in the late 1960’s as the result of a bar fight.
We purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades.
The LP is in excellent condition. The 2 LP set comes with a Gatefold cover, with really nice artwork. The LP cover is in near Mint condition but is showing minor signs of wear and the corners show some aging. (See Photos)
Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago. We have tried to show the good and the bad on the photos included with this listing.
This item has been stored at room temperature, in a smoke free home. Please see photos of actual item being sold.
Chess Blues Master: Little Walter (Chess)
“This Blues master series, on double lp, and gatefold cover, is a great deal. A pretty nice little 2LP set – put together in the early 70s, and featuring material that Walter recorded for Chess during the 50s. There's a lot of harmonica on the album – but Walter's vocals should also be given their due, as they're a bit more in the soul mode than some of his Chicago blues contemporaries. Titles include "Last Night", "My Babe", "Sad Hours", "Blues With Feeling", "Off The Wall", "Juke", "Mean Old World", "I Got To Go", "Shake Dancer", "Thunderbird", "Ah'W Baby", "Too Late", "Boom Boom Out Go The Lights", "You Better Watch Yourself", and "Blue Lights".
