You are bidding on a Vinyl LP from the great Jazz Keyboard player, Jimmy Smith, entitled “Home Cookin.’” These recordings were made in the late 1950’s, and were released in the early 1960’s.  This LP was released on Blue Note Records (BLP 4050).  This looks to be a 1961 (or 1962) release and appears to be an original issue.  The recording is in Mono.

We purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades.

The LP is in very good condition but does show signs of use and wear. We graded the LP cover as Excellent; there is some sign of wear on some of the corners, but overall it looks great. The inner sleeve contains Blue Note promos showing other Blue Note releases currently available.

Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago.  We have tried to show the good and the bad on the photos included with this listing.

This item has been stored at room temperature, in a smoke free home.  Please see photos of actual item being sold.

“Home Cookin' is an album by the American jazz organist Jimmy Smith of performances recorded in 1958 and 1959 and released on the Blue Note label in 1961.  The Hammond organ mastery of Jimmy Smith is arguably nowhere as profound as on this collection... Jimmy Smith's voluminous catalog is remarkably solid throughout and Home Cookin' is a recommended starting place for burgeoning enthusiasts as well as a substantial entry for the initiated.  One of the most swinging recordings of the hard bop era. I'm reminded here of why Kenny Burrell is my favorite jazz guitarist. And where did Percy France come from! He's fantastic. Right up there with Dexter Gordon, Gene Ammons, Tina Brooks. This sounds as good now as it did back when I first heard it in the early 60s”.
