Peter Pan was originally a play. It was later adapted into the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy by James Matthew Barrie. For many years, everyone knew Peter Pan as a play, but there was no novel version of Peter's story beyond the chapters mentioned earlier.

The Soviet children's record is a musical adaptation of James Matthew Barrie's classic story "Peter Pan and Wendy," performed by various voice actors and singers in Russian. The record features music by I. Efremov, lyrics by A. Sanin, and is conducted by A. Petukhov with the orchestra of cinematography. The recording also includes sound effects and dialogue to enhance the storytelling experience for children. The scenario is written and directed by F. Shein, and the record is supervised by I. Yakushenko.
