You are bidding on a EU Import Vinyl Reissue of power pop pioneers Big Star’s 1974 release, “ Radio City.”  If you have ever heard the Replacements’ song “Alex Chilton,” this is who the song is about. This album contains the song you’ve heard a million times, “September Gurls.”

This album was originally released in 1974 on the Stax label, and the item for sale is a European Union (EU) Reissue on the Big Beat/Ace Records Label (WIK 54) from 1986.

We purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades.

The LP is in Near Mint-Excellent condition; it really looks clean.  The LP cover is in Excellent condition, but there is a smudge on the bottom right of the rear cover.  (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS!!!). Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago.

This item has been stored at room temperature, in a smoke free home.  Please see photos of actual item being sold.

Big Star:  Radio City”

“Largely lacking co-leader Chris Bell, Big Star's second album also lacked something of the pop sweetness (especially the harmonies) of #1 Record. What it possessed was Alex Chilton's urgency (sometimes desperation) on songs that made his case as a genuine rock & roll eccentric. If #1 Record had a certain pop perfection that brought everything together, Radio City was the sound of everything falling apart, which proved at least as compelling”.

“From one masterpiece to another, this one is even greater. Absolutely no weak songs throughout this classic album. Of course not all songs is not as strong as the best ones, but the strongest songs is the lion's share, and I give none of the slightly "weaker" songs a rating lower than 4 1/2 stars. If the rating went up to six star, I'd given this one 5 1/2 stars”.
