– Please Please Me Original 1963 UK 1st Mono pressing. First UK label, with Dick James credits, on the original Black & Gold Parlophone labels.
An early first UK mono issue, 1st label variation, with black/gold Parlophone labels, with the Dick James credit. Comes in the very first printed Ernest.J.Day flip-back cover, with the photo credit "Photo: Angus McBean"
printed on the front, bottom right corner of the cover, and starts below where the "s" of "songs" finish (see pictures). (On the later, second issue
sleeves, the Angus McBean photo credit was moved slightly to the left, to below where the G ends)
The vinyl record has obviously been played on a turntable with an old style auto-stacker, and the labels around the spindle hole have been worn, (side 1 is visibly more worn than side 2) but the spindle hole is not loose or worn out.
The vinyl has good shine, and looks great in your hand, but on close inspection, the surfaces are blemished with light scratches, and faint marks, though none are deep or feelable, and the vinyl record plays very well, with excellent audio quality, and clarity, and only very few, and very slight audible imperfections. (low end pips and pops, heard mostly in the dead-wax, and the gaps between songs)
The audible imperfections are few, they are not loud, crowded, repetitive, persistent, or of any real consequence, it is a superb playing vinyl record. In spite of any marks, it is a fantastic playing, and superb sounding vinyl record, on both sides.
