Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane 1961 1st Stereo Press Jazzland VG-/VG-.
For auction is a good listeners copy of Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane. The album’s material was originally recorded throughout April, June and July of 1957 when Monk worked extensively with saxophonist John Coltrane. However, it was not released until October 1961 when Coltrane was a band leader and a jazz star himself. Considered a jazz classic, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and in 2007. This copy is a 1st stereo press from 1961 with black Jazzland labels.
Vinyl is play graded VG-. Spindle marks on both labels. Many light visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with consistent mild background noise that is never overwhelming but definitely apparent. No skips or jumps. Still an enjoyable listen. Please see pics.
Cover is also in VG- condition. Obvious shelf wear on corners and seams. Title edge has an inch split in middle. Title is partially legible. Top seam has a piece of tape along half of it from open edge covering another spit. All four corners have dents. Lower right corner of front has a crease that goes over to back on lower left side. Back has a crack on left along title edge and fold in the top left corner of pasted back. Also writing over Side 1 track listing on back. Small creases along edges on both sides. Ring wear, scuffing and fading on both sides. Still very solid and protects vinyl. Please see pics.
Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!!
