The Grateful Dead American Beauty 1970 1st Press WB Green Labels OG Inner VG/G+.
For auction is a very good listeners copy of American Beauty by American rock band, the Grateful Dead. Their fifth studio album and sixth overall released in November 1970. American Beauty was well received by critics who felt is was a more polished continuation of the bands previous record, Workingman’s Dead. It was successful commercially, peaking at #30 on the Billboard 200 and reached double platinum certification in the US, selling 2 million copies. The album features the classic hits and fan favorites, “Box Of Rain”, “Friend Of The Devil”, “Sugar Magnolia”, “Ripple” and “Truckin’”. American Beauty has been deemed an essential rock album and is considered one of the best ever. In 2020 it ranked #215 on Rolling Stones list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. This copy is a 1970 1st press with green WB labels.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Both labels have faint spindle marks. Vinyl has many light visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Cover is in G+ condition. Has seen better days. All three seams are split and completely taped together. Title is no longer visible. Both sides are covered with scuffs and creases and obvious ring wear. Despite all this it is solid and protects vinyl. Original WB inner is included but a generic white die-cut one is used. Please see pics.
Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!!!
