For auction are 2 vintage LPs by the American rock band, The Beach Boys. One of the most successful, critically acclaimed and influential bands in music history. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and were inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. These albums are both play graded VG- and would be a fine addition to any collection. Please see pics and let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to see more photos. Below are details on the 2 records in this lot:

Little Deuce Coupe The bands fourth studio album released in October 1963, just three weeks after their previous record, Surfer Girl. It reached #4 on the Billboard 200 in the US. Four songs are featured on earlier albums including the title track that was released on Surfer Girl and peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The other previously released tracks are, “409”, which appears on their debut album, Surfin’ Safari, “Shut Down” that is featured on the bands second release, Surfin’

U.S.A. and “Our Car Club” that is on Surfer Girl. The song, “Be True To Your School” was a Top-10 hit reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Little Deuce Coupe has been certified platinum in the US selling a million copies. This copy is a 1976 reissue from Winchester Press. Vinyl is play graded VG-. There are many light visible surface marks and hairlines but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with consistent mild background noise that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Cover is also in VG- condition. There is shelf wear on corners and seams. The title edge has a split that is covered by tape about six inches in the middle of seam. Title is still mostly legible. The two corners on the title side also have tape. Ring wear and stains on both sides. Open edge has wear. A good listeners copy of a great record.

Pet Sounds The bands eleventh studio album released in May 1966. At first, it was met with only moderate commercial and critical success. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and spawned four hit singles in the US. The songs, “Sloop John B” (#3), “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” (#8), “Caroline, No” (#32) and “God Only Knows” (#39), all peaked in in the Top-40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Critically, Pet Sounds initially was met with mixed reviews ranging from negative to somewhat positive. Some felt that the production was too challenging to enjoy and it was argued whether the record was revolutionary or just too weird. After 1974, the album went out-of-print and fell into minor obscurity. It then became popular amongst fans once it was reissued on CD in the 90s and developed a cult following. Since then, it has been reevaluated and is now considered a masterpiece. It is recognized for its innovative and ambitious production, sophisticated music and emotional lyrics and has become one of the most influential records in music history. It has appeared on many best of lists and has received other accolades. In 1994, it ranked #3 in Colin Larkin’s book, All Time Top 1000 Albums. In 1998 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame although it was never nominated for one. In 2004, Pet Sounds was preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. Rolling Stone ranked it #2 on their list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003, 2012 and again on the updated 2020 version. This copy is an unofficial release probably from the early 70s. It is identified by the “XXXXXXXXXXX” in the Side 2 runout. Vinyl is play graded VG-. Several light visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with consistent mild background noise that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Cover is in VG condition. Shelf wear on corners and seams of peeling but no splits. Title is fully legible. The two right corners of open edge have tiny dents. Ring wear, scuffing and fading on both sides. Some stains on back. Super Solid and protects vinyl. A good listeners copy of a must own essential album!
