Sphere Sound LP 7008 (SSR 7008)
MONO
1967
I bought this LP new in August 1971.
Cover - Shrink on. Cutout hole bottom right. Price tag on shrink, “271” written on price tag. No other writing, no ripping to cardboard. Corner bumps. Shrink tear at bottom center, back. Open area color has toned. Surprisingly, the bottom, back, left corner by the cutout hole hasn’t toned.
Vinyl - Light rubs, streaks, few light marks.
Sleeve - Clear plastic.
Matrix/Runout:
Side 1: 7008 MA (1 with 3 dots under it) 7-14-67 Bell Sound sf
Side 2: 7008-MB (1 with 3 dots under it) 7-14-67 Bell Sound sf
sf - mastered by Sam Feldman
Pressing Rings 69mm
Vinyl weight - 4 7/8 oz, 137g
Bell Sound - Lacquer/Master cutting studios
Probably the 7-14-67 hand-etched into the Runout indicates the stamper date. bsnpubs lists the album as a 1966 release. However they do not picture the yellow label on the Sphere page, only a red/white label.
Without the Matrix/Runout info you can’t be sure what you’re buying. All the listings on Discogs show the same cover. One of the Discogs entries, listed as 1966, has similar labels, but without the bottom arc printing (AMY maLa BELL N.Y.C.). The other 1966 listing has labels like mine. Can’t see the pressing rings on the No-arc print label.
Anyway, did you ever hear an Elmore James song you didn’t like? Plenty here to make YOU Shake Your Money Maker.
This is listed in the Rare Blues LP’s on the Vinylbeat site. The price there is for a nearly perfect copy for an avid collector. But it’s on the list.
