Muddy Waters
“Live”
AT MISTER KELLY’S
CHESS CH 50012
Stereo
1971 or 1972
I bought this LP new in June 1972.
Cover - No Shrink. Light corner bumps. May have been a while before I put it in a large plastic cover. There is moderate ring-wear, and some other places where similar rubbing took place. This is not a tortured cover, just shows some handling/shelving marks.
Vinyl - A few small marks, some rubs/smudges. Plays like new.
Sleeve - Plain white (yellowing) paper.
Deadwax:
Side 1: CH-1-50012 A-1 3-22-72 G. K. 66
Side 2: CH-1-50012 B-1 66 3-23-72
Pressing Rings 70mm
Vinyl weight 4 3/4 oz, 136g
66 - numbers associated with All Disc Records, which probably pressed this.
3-22,23-72 - likely the date of the stampers being processed
G. K. - Gilbert Kong, mastering engineer
Different sites list both 1971 and 1972 as release dates. The likely stamper date on this copy suggests 1972 was when this was pressed.
Muddy Waters was part of my introduction to Blues. Partly for that, and even more his talent, let me assert I have not heard a Muddy Waters song that I didn’t like. So I’m very prejudiced when I load accolades on him and his band on this album.
Numerous familiar titles and other soon to be favorites await the new listener to this record.
One time back about 1969 I got to share a few words with James Madison. Don’t know what gibberish I proffered, but it’s an honored memory.
Muddy Waters excitement awaits.
