Comb & Razor Sound presents a sizzling compilation of Nigerian boogie heat created between the boom period of 1979-1983. Following 23 years of military dictatorship, Nigeria enjoyed a democratic government and the influx of petrodollars and the expansion of industries - including the record industry - it brought with it. These 15 tracks are effectively post-disco but mixed with that inimitable Afrobeat swagger and the widespread addition of synths to create a thoroughly modern dance-pop sound. Retrospectively identified as "Nigerian Boogie" you'll find some prime cuts such as Kris Okotie's deadly Funkadelic-styled wiggler 'Show Me Your Backside', Joe Moks's awesome 'Boys And Girls' , the symphonic synth flush of Oby Onyioha's 'I Want To Feel Your Love', the rubbery squelch of Dizzy K. Falola's 'Excuse Me Baby', the hard swing of Segun Robert's Stevie Wonder-styled 'Big Race' or the energetic clip of Honey Machine's electrifying 'Pleasure'. This is a freaking treasure trove! Disco nuts need 2 copies!
