There are two names that come to mind in connection with Steely Dan: Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. The two men discovered, while at college at the end of the Sixties, that they shared musical tastes, although playing in different bands. Subsequently they formed a songwriter duo before making their breakthrough in 1972 under the name Steely Dan (a name which came from William Burrough’s novel The Naked Lunch) with their debut album Can’t Buy A Thrill. This LP remained for over a year in the Billboard charts, and the single, Do It Again, placed solidly into the Top Ten. This was simply the beginning of an extraordinarily successful career which lasted until the "temporary" disbandment of the group in 1981 (a brand new album entitled Two Against Nature has appeared since then).
Every one of their seven studio albums was crowned with a Gold or Platinum certification. Can’t Buy A Thrill may not be as “polished” as later albums, such as Aja or Gaucho for example, but their unique mixture of melodic rock, shot through with soul, jazzy rhythms and ambitious instrumental solos made Fagen and Becker stand out from all the others right from the very start. Apart from the now “classic” songs such as Dirty Work, Midnight Cruiser, Reelin’ The Years, and of course the unforgettable Do It Again, it goes without saying that all the others titles are endowed with all those qualities which make Steely Dan so unique and well recorded.
1. Do It Again
2. Dirty Work
3. Kings
4. Midnight Cruiser
5. Only A Fool Would Say That
6. Reelin' In The Years
7. Fire In The Hole
8. Brooklyn (Owes The Charmer Under Me)
9. Change Of The Guard
10. Turn That Heartbeat Over Again
We Care About What We Ship!
All our LPS are factory sealed, and are inspected for any visible jacket damage when they are received by US Recording from the record companies, and then by two different people, the picker and then the packer before being double boxed and shipped to our customers. The packaging includes a layer of bubble insulation under the inner box to help protect the LP from the heat or moisture of a sidewalk or deliver truck shelf. Shipping an LP in a flimsy mailer is not acceptable to us, especially for today's heavier and more expensive LPS. We'd rather take the extra effort than play the odds the USPS won't damage your vinyl. It's not bullet proof, but it's a whole lot better than the way most companies ship vinyl.
All our LPS are stored in a climate controlled environment, not a blistering hot warehouse somewhere which is horrible for vinyl causing warping no matter if they're 150 gram, 180 gram, or 200 gram.
US RECORDING will, for free, unseal and remove the LP itself from the jacket to absolutely prevent seam splits in shipping
if you immediately ask us to as a note with your Paypal payment. Once we unseal this item for you, however, it is not returnable.
US RECORDING NEVER reseals and resells any returns as new, and
this is our pledge and ALL our LPS are factory sealed. Many LP retailers are a
revolving door of unsealed *defective* returns and what we feel is the questionable practice of reselling their returns that they reseal as new items. Just about every mass retailer does this practice, because they cannot return LPS to the manufacturers anymore. This may be another reason why they won't show an
actual photo of the LPS they are shipping, because there will be stickers missing from the resealed LPs.
We show our own photos BOTH FRONT AND BACK of actual copies of what you will be shipped, so there should be no question what you will be getting, stickers and all.
ALWAYS wet clean all new LPs before their first use to remove record sleeve dust and other particles from manufacturing. We recommend
Lasermedia VNC-4 Vinyl Record Cleaner because it does the job well without harmful solvents.
Disclaimer: The product images shown are US Recording Media photos of a copy of the item for sale, but are not actual photos of the
actual individual item you will be sent.
If the stickers on the vinyl are an issue to you, please contact us before ordering so you get exactly what you're looking for! PLEASE CAREFULLY REVIEW THE PHOTOS BEFORE MAKING A DECISION TO BUY TO MAKE SURE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!
