AMERICAN BEAUTY was an instant classic when it was first released November of 1970. It is among the most satisfying and enduring of the Grateful Dead's studio recordings, expanding as it does on the engaging mix of country, blues, and folk materials they first coined earlier in the year with WORKINGMAN'S DEAD. The musical vision of the Dead is more sharply focused on AMERICAN BEAUTY--from the serene reflection and compassion of the opening "Box Of Rain" and the earthy mysticism of "Ripple," to the sensual rock of "Sugar Magnolia" and the anthemic proto-boogie of the closing "Truckin'." But then, every tune on AMERICAN BEAUTY has attained a classic resonance, both from decades of steady airplay, and the way the Dead seemed to continually revive these popular standards for their concert repertoire.

ALWAYS wet clean all LPs before their first use to remove record sleeve dust and other particles from manufacturing. This includes ALL new LPS and it doesn't matter who makes them, or who sells them.  If you purchased a used LP somewhere
(we only sell new) double clean it. This is standard procedure you should be following.  We recommend Lasermedia VNC-4  Vinyl Record Cleaner because it does the job well without harmful solvents like alcohol or worse which can damage the plasticizers in
 the vinyl making it noisy and prone to wear..

REPLACE standard paper sleeves with poly lined sleeves to keep the record from scratching when inserting the LP into it. This is particularly important with those nice-to-look-at hard sleeves they sometimes use. 

US RECORDING will, for free, unseal and remove the LP itself from the jacket to absolutely prevent seam splits in shipping if you immediately ask us to after payment. This is guaranteed preventable damage if you simply ask us to do it. (This is the proper way to ship LPS anyway.) Once we unseal this item for you, however, it is not returnable.

Some LPS are factory shrink wrapped, and others are factory sealed in bags, especially many of the higher end versions and most imports. European pressings are mostly sealed in bags because that is THEIR standard of packaging.  The USA standard is to shrink wrap but it could go either way. See actual photos.
