This auction is for a rare 1st pressing of the Beatles debut UK single 'Love Me do / P. S. I Love You' on the Red Parlophone label!

Released in October of 1962, this was the first ever Beatles Parlophone single and peaked at number 17 in the UK charts. It really didn't sell well at all and, because of this, copies today are getting very difficult to find!

This particualr copy carries the highly unusual MPZT tax code in the deadwax at the 9 o'clock position, whereas the push-out centre has MT on the side 2 label. The labels do not feature the 'Made in Gt. Britain' credit and the closing bracket for the writers credit for P. S. I Love You is missing.

Comes in its original Parlophone company sleeve. Please note that this is NOT the 1982 reissue. These 1982 reissues have the song titles in much bigger lettering and feature the word 'mono' on the label, something that the originals didn't.

The company sleeve is holding okay but is showing its age (it's 52 years old and counting!) It's yellowed a little and lost some of its colouring. There's light wear, creasing and the beginnings of a little split in one of the sides, but this is very small. '4/6' has been written on one side in fountain pen. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : FAIR

The playing surface has a really nice shine to it. Side 1 has a fair amount of light scuffing along with some heavy scuff marks with a couple of little, heavy knocks at the 1 o'clock position. Side 2 also has a fair amount of light scuffing but nothing really heavier.

The labels have bright, silver text and a nice, rich red colour. There's some wear and light marks - the photos above tell the best story here.
