"Unreleased archival business from Stones Throw CEO Peanut Butter Wolf, presenting 20 tracks recorded directly from his 4-track between 1990-1992. We're sure that sentence has got quite a few heads sweating in their Adidas right now, and the sounds within may be close to finishing you off. By 1990 PBW already had one 12" out with Lyrical Prophecy the previous year, so attracting rappers in his local area wasn't a problem. He had the pick of the local crop, including his MC ally Charizma, who would famously pass away a few years later, plus a stack of loops and a pair of headphones he would jack into the mixer to record vocals. By his own admission the results are sloppy, but to the untrained ear this is some prime early-90's hiphop, albeit with some lo-fi production values. It's some real foundational sh*t, featuring some deadly beats which would no doubt be considered classics if mastered and recorded properly."
