Unbelievable find!!!  This record is rare enough in any condition but wait until you hear it's story.  This is "The Nation's Nightmare" - A report of crime in America in 1951 - documented with tape recordings from back rooms and front offices of the underworld.  This record presents two of a series of six memorable broadcasts heard by millions during the summer of 1951, over the facilities of the CBS Radio Network.  Side 1: Traffic in Narcotics, Side 2: Crime on the Waterfront.  Released by CBS Records in 1951 - XTV 15688 / XTV 15692.  This rare record has always been held in high esteem due to its artwork on the cover and labels, which represent early work by Andy Warhol.  This copy was sent personally by the President of CBS Records - Howard S. Meighan to Mrs. Alfred I DuPont of DuPont family fame and fortune.  Mrs. DuPont was a Director of Florida National Bank at the time, living in Jacksonville, Florida.  Enclosed with the record is a signed letter to Mrs. DuPont from Mr. Meighan in its original envelope, making reference to the Kefauver Committee hearings and how CBS Radio was doing its part to keep the nation informed.  Great historical reference that lends context to why this record was released.  Better still, this record still resides in its original shipping box - shipped from CBS Records in New York on October 17th, 1951.  (Please see all pictures)  This heavy deep groove record is in nice shape.  Does have some scattered surface marks (maybe fingernail marks and a couple surface hairlines - not deep) and a little residue on each side that may have come from it sticking slightly out of its sleeve for years - not sure.  Does have some scattered lint from the years as well.  I'm guessing the record would play VG+ with a proper cleaning but I don't have the right gear for that.  Nice gloss.  I'll call it VG / VG+ as is.  Labels (which also have the Andy Warhol artwork) are beautiful.  Jacket (which is the greater value here) is in great shape with a beautifully clean front side.  The only blemish is an indentation that came from where the enclosed envelope with letter had been paperclipped to the record.  You can see impression from paperclip more clearly on the back side.  Back side has yellowed from the cardboard it was resting on all these years but is solid other than that.  No seam splits but there is about an inch where you can see the start of one on left edge, hasn't broken through and is probably from the record moving around inside its box when originally shipped.  A wonderfully rare item - not sure I have ever seen one offered with its shipping box and I certainly haven't seen one with the provenance that this piece has.  Don't let it get away as it is truly one-of-a-kind.  Will be shipped free of charge and fully insured.  Enjoy!
