Precociously talented 19-year-old Henry Laufer aka Shlohmo is back with a new EP, supplemented with a raft of remixes. For the most part we're talking exquisitely reverbed ambient beatscapes, comparable with Balam Acab, Clams Casino and the dreamier side of the Tri Angle roster. The two-part 'For You' is an aquatic odyssey we'll be returning to again and again, while 'Crust' is so tactile and vivid it's like it's actually climbed into your lughole and set up business there. The title of 'My Drum Loop Is Stuck In Molasses' could serve as a description of the whole record. The remixes are quality too: Anenon in particular impresses with his Budd/Eno-style drift version of 'Ghosts Pt.2'. For those of you into the better class of stoned instrumental hip-hop, this EP is likely to prove a winner. Dope.
