Original 1977 (January) press LP, "Rides Again" signed by controversial outlaw country music lead man, David Allan Coe.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ FULLY BEFORE BIDDING: I purchased this vinyl from a boutique record shop in Oldsmar, FL, and noticed the signature at check out. The owner of the shop purchases vinyl en bulk from a Chicago distributor. He priced it without taking into account the signature - because I am a long time, regular customer, he stuck with his original price of $15 . I inquired about the authenticity, and he stated that this was uncommon but not unheard of - for a signed gem to slip through the cracks... estate sales, bankruptcies, etc., situations where the seller (many times an auctioneer) will not personally know what is in the lot of items.
I have not had the handwriting and signature authenticated by PSA/DNA. The writing, which is in dark blue ink from a ball point pen, reads as follows: "To 'Hacksaw' Ride Free - Bro. David Allan Coe - 11-6-86". It's not a typical illegible autograph; rather, it appears to be a personal note written to one Hacksaw as a reminder to Ride Free from Brother DAC. There are a few examples online of DAC's handwriting that do, indeed, match the handwriting and signature on this album. There are also examples that do not. It's a crap shoot. I've had a few modest offers, but I figure I'll let the market determine its value. DAC memorabilia is difficult to find and valued high as a result. Happy bidding. CHARITY...I am donating ten percent of final sales price to local school system for good measure!
IMPORTANT CAVEAT - I am NOT guaranteeing the authenticity of the handwriting. I have simply stated the facts surrounding my acquisition of the record and the superficial research performed using my own untrained eyes. Buyer understands that no professional authenticator or writing expert has opined as to the authenticity of the subject handwriting, and Seller makes no firm representations as to the authenticity. It could very well be a joke. I would encourage all bidders to perform their own research. By placing bid buyer accepts this responsibility and holds seller harmless.
The vinyl is in good condition. Minor imperfections that dont impact playability. Record doesn't skip or scratch. Cover is in good shape, with normal wear and tear (see picture) on spine. Inside sleeve is in tact with minor fading. Record center stickers are both in good shape.
Free shipping (via USPS media mail only (3 to 5 biz days)).
SORRY - no returns on this auction. The sale is as is and cannot be returned. **** This item did sell once before and buyer was local. It was purchased for boyfriend and they broke up (or so I was told) and she very nicely asked for a return, which I allowed despite this caveat (this is exact same listing though I've removed the auction).
