This is a first pressing of John Coltrane's Kulu Se Mama LP released in 1966 on the Impulse label. This album was recorded by Rudy Van Gelder ensuring warm amazing analog sound quality only these early 1960's pressing have.

Released in a gatefold cover.

Recorded at Western Recorders, Los Angeles, CA, October 14, 1965 (A); recorded at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, June 10, 1965 (B2) and June 16, 1965 (B1)

Orange Impulse labels. First pressing (1966/67) with "A Product Of ABC-Paramount Records Inc., Printed In U.S.A." below tracklist on label.
The record has a nice shine and looks to have very few light marks that do not effect play. Take a look at the photos to see for yourself. I have listened to this record with headphones and give it a solid VG+ grade overall. That being said Side 1 is VG+ and at times VG++/EX, while Side 2 is a solid EX. The sound of this record is fantastic. The drums and Coltrane's tenor saxophone especially jump out at you like your in the room with the musicians. Really lovely copy.

The sleeve is the one downside. The front cover has a few marks that are not deep. The spine is intact with a slight sign of wear at the top and bottom corners. The back cover has lost some of the original shrink but still looks great. The bottom of the back jacket has split half way (see photos). The inside gatefold has some discoloration and small stains (see photos). But now that you've heard the bad news I must say that this is truly the most affordable way to own this brilliant jazz masterpiece. It will look great on your record shelf and most importantly it will SOUND GREAT on your turntable!
