The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking By Roger Waters
1st UK Pressing Harvest label - Cat. No. SHVL 24 0105 1
Matrix:  Side A - SHVL (SHSP crossed out) 2401051   A - 2U - 1 - 1 Side B - SHVL (SHSP crossed out) 2401051   B - 2U - 1 - 1
Album by the Pink Floyd bassist that comes in a gatefold cover and cellophane lined black paper inner.  The record has been cleaned on a Project VCS MKII cleaning machine.
CONDITION - RECORD Visually inspected under a strong halogen lamp, side A just has sleeve withdrawal marks but, arguably, too many to grade it any better than Excellent minus.  Side B has just one very light surface scratch and some sleeve withdrawal marks, which grades as VG+
When played on a Project Debut turntable, it plays with a light background crackle throughout, which is more noticeable at the beginning of each side and during quiet passages.  No jumps, sticking or 'pops'.  I would give it a play-grade of Very Good minus although it is tempting to give it a Very Good grade.  I'm sure others would!
CONDITION - LABELS Are clean and undamaged with just faint spindle trails.
CONDITION - COVER AND CONTENTS The cover has wear to the edges, some ringwear, some light creasing and a small tear to the opening (see photo) and this is why it is graded as FAIR.  The inner just has creasing and ringwear.
OVERALL GRADE (record / cover - see the grading guide below)

VERY GOOD minus / FAIR
GRADING GUIDE - IMPORTANT!

I visually examine all records under a strong 35w halogen lamp, which shows up ALL defects.

I strictly grade my records according to Record Collector guidelines, which to me means as follows:

MINT- Must be sealed
NEAR MINT - Totally unmarked, no scratches, not even faint 'hairlines' / sleeve withdrawal marks or any other signs of having been played.  Genuine NM records are really not as plentiful as many sellers on eBay would have you believe.
EXCELLENT - No scratches, just signs of having been played, such as the odd faint 'hairline' sleeve withdrawal mark caused by dust that is barely visible under a strong lamp, or spindle trails on the label.
VERY GOOD - The first mild scratches have begun to appear, but only very, very few.
GOOD - More scratches than Very Good and more severe, but I am confident that the record will play through without skips or sticking and will still provide a good listening experience.
FAIR - The record may not play through properly with a chance of it jumping and / or it will play with significant background noise.
POOR - It definitely won't play without skipping or sticking.

Below Near Mint I will use plus or minus with a grade to highlight fine differences.

COVER GRADES

My cover grades are EXACTLY as stated in Record Collector magazine / RRPG. Therefore, if a cover is defaced, stained or torn it CANNOT grade better than FAIR. Likewise, if any part of the contents are missing it CANNOT grade better than POOR.

All records are dispatched using stiffeners and card mailers.
