Record Grading

Mint (M) ~ Never will grade here

Near Mint (NM) ~ A record that "looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time". The only near mint records I sell are still sealed and unopened.

Excellent (EX) ~ The record may show one or two slight signs of wear (very light scuffs or very light scratches). These do not affect the quality of the sound or the listening experience. The album cover may have very light ring wear and light wear at the corners.

Very Good Plus (VG+) ~ Show some slight signs of wear, but only light scuffs or scratches that do not significantly affect playback. The album cover may have slight wear around the edges and at the corners. Ring wear does not significantly detract from cover photos or album art. Cut outs or corner notches may be present.

Very Good (VG) ~ These records display more obvious signs of wear and handling. They lack much of the original factory gloss found on new records. Surface noise may be noticeable in quieter passages and during song intros and endings. The noise will not overpower the music. The album cover shows definite signs of human handling. Ring wear and shelf wear may be evident, but not overwhelming. There may be creases at the corners and more evident signs of handling along  the edges.

Very Good Minus/Good Plus VG-/G+ ~ A gradation from Very Good to Good. May have slight warps that do not affect playback. Album covers may have obvious writing, seam splits , tape along the edges, and heavy ring wear that detracts from cover photos or album art.

Good (G) ~ Significant and obvious wear and handling including surface noise throughout (clicks, pops, crackles), spindle wear, and groove wear. Records may have pops, but do play through without skips or repeated passages. Covers have seam splits across one or more sides. Stains, shelf wear, stickers, and discoloration is evident.
