"Música Sonidera" is the name given to the melodies played by the "sonideros", DJs from the neighborhoods of Mexico City. This style's roots go back to the beginning of the 1940's, but in the 60's while DJ's were playing with the pitch of the vinyl records, a different tone was discovered as a coincidence. This tone was immediately adopted by the urban dancer who was willing to enjoy the new discovery in music tone. The music used was mainly coming from the Caribbean and South America where "Salsa, Cumbia, Guaracha, Descarga, Guaguanco and Chicha" are very popular - styles that have influence throughout the continent and the entire world. This new musical style, which has been declared to be a music deformation by some people, has been also very popular among the sonidero movement and DJs from around the world. They have visited Mexico to discover more about this peculiar way to enjoy music with this speed changing game on the vinyl records. It is a must to emphasize that most people who like to dance to this kind of music don't get accustomed to the original speed of this music. You all can watch some examples of great sonideros (Siboney , La Conga, Sonoramico) online, who have created one of the most popular urban cultures in Mexico.
