Most audiophiles won't touch opera recordings with a ten foot pole. Well, perhaps with the exception of this! Who can't hum a tune or two, or ten, from this opera of star-crossed lovers? Gershwin's fine melodic creations inspired many generations of pop, jazz, and classical musicians. Here we have the most sympathetic conductor in Maazel and a wonderful cast. The famous "live" soundstage recording by Decca brought the actions to one's mind's eye. It's a set that belongs to every collection.

On the "Best of the Bunch", or "Baker's Dozen" of TAS Superdisc list.

Note: I'm a collector, not a dealer. The reason I'm selling is to downsize my collection. Every record I offer was hand-picked based on its merits on music, performance, and sonics (not necessarily in that order!). I will list recording credentials such as producer, engineer, venue, date, etc. as I believe as an educated buyer, these will offer crucial info for an unfamiliar record to make a buying judgement. Hope you'll find this useful!
