Highly coveted classic album from the great tenor SONNY ROLLINS Saxophone Colossus on Prestige Records (7079). This is the 1st pressing that features the West 50th New York address on the labels and back cover, the microgroove, and in the runout features the engineer’s initials following the cat #.
USA shipping via USPS Media Mail. S/H is $5. Will combine shipping with other LPs / items.
Record(s) will be shipped in the medium-specific, high quality mailers with corners reinforced. Record will be in its original inner sleeve in the dust jacket all in an acid-free, anti-static protective outer sleeve. Should the buyer have his/here own method that he/she would like implemented, I’ll be willing to oblige the request (within reason!).
Vinyl Condition: G
Sleeve Condition: G+
The sleeve is in G+ cond. There’s a half inch cut in jacket on the top, but overall integrity of the jacket is VG. However, one will notice from the picture that the laminate is beginning to peel ofc bottom right. Also, one can see that there is some staining along the jacket’s opening. I think it may benefit from a general cleaning , but I’ll leave that up to the buyer. considering the rarity of the album.
The album itself appears at glance to have a several surface scratches, and playback does indeed have surface noise, and may lock on side two track one (a previous buyer returned the album to me saying that it skipped for him on that track; it didn’t lock for me, but it did briefly jump a few seconds forward)
The labels are absolutely perfect and feature the lovely early Prestige “fireworks” art.
I’ve attempted to provide more pictures to help you with your decision; I personally believe that the album would serve as a better than average placeholder since I wouldn’t feel bad about playing nor displaying it, but I’m certainly not suggesting it is flawless!
You’re buying the 1st pressing W 50th edition of Saxophone Colossus that mint has gone for over $3000. This is just a stand-in until one finds a copy that goes over the $1000 mark. Nothing more, nothing less!
